Abraham Youth and Family Services was born from the vision of its founder, Ancell Hamlin, while growing up in what many would consider a challenging environment. At an early age he began to carve out his niche as a leader in his community and advocate for children. He realized very early on that his current circumstances did not define him nor did they determine his future potential and he was determined to pass this belief on to the people he served. His inspiration to serve was further propelled by his extensive work in local government. As a community activist, he quickly realized that quality mental health services dedicated to serving the community were not present or easily accessible. So, he set out to ensure that those who needed support received it from caring and committed individuals who are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of families.
Our mission is to provide comprehensive behavioral health and prevention services that will stabilize families and provide clients with the skills and strategies that will promote self-determination and provide them with the necessary tools to cope with the serious issues and obstacles they may face.
It is our goal that our clients will successfully complete our program and become mature, productive, and responsible citizens who have the skills and the confidence to make positive decisions for their futures.
In order to achieve this goal, several objectives will be completed throughout the client’s participation in the program. These objectives are highly individualized and are established based on the needs of the client and are documented during the creation of their individual service plan.
